Food Tour: A White Modern Kitchen in an Arts and Crafts Home - After five years of living in their architecturally significant Arts and Crafts house, the owners decided to push the envelope when it came to design a new extension. Under the expert eye of Jason Canavan, owner of Interiors Canavan, and the rest of the team, including architect and builder, the owners plumped for an extension to ultra-contemporary flat roof, which is connected to the house a spectacular glazed link corridor. "The owners appreciate styles from a variety of eras and are aficionados of outstanding design," said Canavan, whose company is based in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. "They were very keen to get a strong visual contrast between their original dwelling and the new extension. " A veritable juxtaposition of old and new, the extension now houses a table, all white contemporary kitchen and casual living.

"We designed a kitchen and dressing room for the champion jockey AP McCoy and his wife at their home in Marlborough, and it was an interior designer McCoy who recommended these owners," says Canavan. "the designer arranged for them to see the kitchen McCoys, they loved so everything evolved from that starting point."

the new expansion is linked to the old house by a glass corridor. the kitchen opens into a modern space dynamic with a bank of high-spec devices, a striking island unit and casual living area behind.
"the owners have pushed the limits by choosing unusual materials, combining glossy white glass doors with rough-cut oak veneer silver to add texture and contrast, "says Canavan.

The old kitchen was located in the original part of the house.

Canavan designed partitions to create a wall recessed cabinets for a slick, integrated in the finish. Fusion invisibly with architecture, this part of the kitchen houses Flush white doors of the glass unit, the extraction system, twin ovens and concealed storage.
"It adds another dimension to the design and improves the quality of measurement of the kitchen," says Canavan

"We knew that our meetings couple have a great appreciation for the design of the statement, "Canavan said. "In recent years we have developed a range of unique shapes of the island and this was the perfect project to introduce one of them."
A white speckled Caesarstone quartz worktop wraps around the island angular unit and offers a subtle contrast to the pure white surfaces elsewhere.

rather than opt for one or two sink basins arranged separately, the owners went for two sinks and faucets side by side with a twin dishwasher for optimum efficiency.

the wall in front of the island was designed to wrap the refrigeration system Siemens, wine cabinet and low storage. It also doubles up as a custom room divider with a stove on the other side face in the lounge.
