Food Tour: A Modern Country Kitchen in Gloucestershire - The owners of this beautiful kitchen designer Jeremy Price made space for a large reconstruction on the site of a former farm. The newly built house used locally extracted Gloucestershire stone to match the original barn and outbuildings around a vegetable garden in the courtyard. "The manufacturer was one of the best we have worked with, as well as his talented team of craftsmen," says Price. "So it was a privilege to design a kitchen to a place like this, and it was important that we maintained the quality and integrity of the entire project. "

t the island is made of new oak, which was planed by hand to give it the effect of old wood. "I chose oak with an interesting grain, but avoided too nodes," says Price. Its team of specialists applied a custom finish in the workshop which adds to the feeling of age.

The knife drawer contains cavities of different sizes, as well as hidden magnets that maintain knives in place when the drawer is opened and closed. solid oak drawers are finished with a thin border of decorative beads.

Price said that it tries to limit the amount of materials he uses in a project, so the Portuguese marble is a repeated feature throughout the kitchen. "It is a polished white stone with subtle veining. Coffee, chocolate and caramel tones look incredibly soft close, "he said. Price deliberately chosen pieces with limited grain to keep the look soft and muted.

This stylish double sink marble is the prep sink. It has a shallow end astute on the left in particular for washing and peeling vegetables.

This huge pantry was built at the rear of the cabinet of devices, and is ideally located to unload the dishwasher. It has a custom sliding door mechanism with a metal guide rail and a wheel system. "Once it's in, it does not need adjustment," says Price.
